A Toronto law firm is looking to add a corporate commercial lawyer who can work closely with business owners, private companies, entrepreneurs, and growing organizations. This opportunity is well-suited to a lawyer who enjoys practical client advisory work, drafting and negotiating commercial agreements, and helping clients navigate the legal side of business growth.

This is not a role for someone looking to disappear into narrow task-based work. The right lawyer will want client contact, responsibility, and the opportunity to become a trusted advisor to businesses that need thoughtful, commercially-minded legal guidance.

ROLE DETAILS

The Work

In this role, you can expect to work on a range of corporate and commercial matters, including commercial agreements, shareholder agreements, business structuring, corporate governance, reorganizations, asset/share transactions, and general business advisory work.

You will be involved in drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and managing corporate commercial files while working directly with clients and internal team members. Depending on your level of experience, you may also have the opportunity to take on a larger role in client management, business development, and practice growth.

Compensation

$165,000 – $210,000

For Equity Partners, Group Performance and override bonuses applied in addition to market leading splits on original generated work.

QUALIFICATIONS

What the firm is looking for.

01This Corporate Commercial Lawyer Toronto opportunity is best suited to a corporate commercial lawyer with approximately 6+ years of experience practicing in a law firm environment. The ideal candidate will have strong drafting skills, sound business judgment, and experience advising private companies or owner-managed businesses.
02A lawyer who is comfortable managing files, communicating directly with clients, and working with some independence will be well-positioned here. Business development interest is an asset, especially for lawyers looking for a stronger platform to grow their practice over time.

Role Requirements

EducationJ.D., L.LB or Canadian equivalent degree

Working HoursFull time; Standard Law Firm schedule

Skills– This role requires previous practice experience in Corporate Commercial Work. · – Candidates must have a strong track record of developing business or a plan to expand business development activities. · – Must be called to the Ontario Bar and have a Licence in Good Standing with the LSO.
