
Our client, a respected firm in Montreal, is seeking an Insolvency Lawyer with 5+ years of experience to join its growing insolvency, restructuring, and commercial litigation practice. This opportunity is ideal for a lawyer with strong experience in insolvency law, creditor remedies, commercial recovery, restructuring proceedings, bankruptcy and receivership matters, secured enforcement, and debtor-creditor disputes.
The successful candidate will advise a broad range of lenders, trustees, creditors, corporate debtors, financial institutions, and commercial clients on transactional, operational, and strategic insolvency matters. This role is well suited to a lawyer who is confident managing sophisticated files, maintaining strong client relationships, and delivering practical, business-focused legal advice in a fast-paced private practice environment.
- Advise clients on a broad range of insolvency and restructuring matters, including bankruptcies, proposals, receiverships, secured enforcement, and creditor remedies
- Represent clients in insolvency-related proceedings, commercial recovery matters, restructuring files, and debtor-creditor disputes
- Draft, review, and negotiate insolvency-related agreements, settlement documents, forbearance agreements, security enforcement materials, and related court materials
- Provide strategic legal advice on restructuring options, enforcement rights, risk exposure, recovery strategy, and insolvency-related litigation matters
- Support clients with distressed business situations, recovery planning, negotiations, and court-driven insolvency processes
- Manage files from opening through closing, including timelines, client communication, legal drafting, negotiation strategy, and coordination with internal and external stakeholders
- Work collaboratively with lenders, trustees, business owners, financial advisors, and other legal professionals on complex insolvency and restructuring matters
- Called to the Bar in Quebec and in good standing with the Barreau du Québec
- Minimum 5 years of experience practicing in insolvency law, restructuring, commercial litigation, or related business law matters
- Strong drafting and advocacy experience with insolvency proceedings, recovery matters, court materials, and settlement documentation
- Experience advising on creditor remedies, restructuring strategy, bankruptcy and receivership matters, secured enforcement, and commercial recovery
- Excellent communication, judgment, and client management skills
- Bilingualism in English and French is considered a strong asset
