Description

Our client, a respected firm in Edmonton, is seeking a Family Lawyer with 5+ years of experience to join its established family law practice. This opportunity is ideal for a lawyer with strong experience in family law, divorce, custody and parenting matters, child support, spousal support, property division, separation agreements, and family dispute resolution.

The successful candidate will advise a broad range of individual clients and families on sensitive and often high-stakes family law matters. This role is well suited to a lawyer who is confident managing files independently, maintaining strong client relationships, handling negotiations and court appearances, and delivering practical, compassionate legal advice in a fast-paced private practice environment.

Responsibilities
  • Advise clients on a broad range of family law matters, including divorce, parenting, child support, spousal support, guardianship, and property division
  • Draft, review, and negotiate separation agreements, parenting plans, minutes of settlement, court materials, and related family law documents
  • Represent clients in mediations, case conferences, applications, hearings, and settlement negotiations
  • Provide strategic legal advice on family law rights, litigation risk, dispute resolution options, and practical legal outcomes
  • Manage family law files from intake through resolution, including deadlines, client communication, document management, and court preparation
  • Conduct legal research and prepare written advocacy materials in support of active family law matters
Qualifications
  • Called to the Bar in Alberta and in good standing with the applicable law society
  • Minimum 5 years of experience practicing in family law
  • Strong drafting, advocacy, and file management skills across a range of family law matters
  • Experience handling negotiations, mediations, applications, hearings, and settlement-driven family law work
  • Excellent communication, judgment, empathy, and client service skills

Experience

5+ years of relevant experience in family law, including experience with divorce, parenting matters, support issues, property division, advocacy, and dispute resolution.

Education

J.D. or LL.B.
Called to the Bar in Alberta and in good standing with the applicable law society
