A well-established Markham law firm is seeking a Debt Recovery Paralegal to manage commercial debt, Small Claims Court matters, and negotiation-focused files. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys taking ownership of files and working directly with clients.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Manage a full caseload of debt recovery and collection files
- Draft pleadings, demand letters, and court documents
- Represent clients at Small Claims Court hearings
- Negotiate payment plans and settlements
- Conduct legal research and prepare file summaries
- Communicate regularly with clients and opposing counsel
- Track important deadlines and ensure files stay organized
What You Bring:
- 6+ years of experience in debt recovery or litigation
- Licensed Paralegal (P1) in good standing
- Strong drafting and negotiation skills
- Comfort handling hearings and settlement discussions
