Description

Our client, a respected firm in Toronto, is seeking a Litigation Lawyer with 4+ years of experience to join its growing litigation practice. This opportunity is ideal for a lawyer with strong experience in civil litigation, commercial disputes, contract disputes, shareholder matters, recovery matters, motion practice, dispute resolution, and general advocacy work.

The successful candidate will advise and represent a broad range of businesses, individuals, executives, insurers, institutional clients, and commercial stakeholders on contentious, operational, and strategic legal matters. This role is well suited to a lawyer who is confident managing sophisticated files, maintaining strong client relationships, and delivering practical, business-focused legal advice in a fast-paced private practice environment.

Responsibilities
  • Advise clients on a broad range of litigation matters, including civil disputes, commercial conflicts, contract claims, recovery matters, and procedural strategy
  • Draft, review, and prepare pleadings, motion materials, affidavits, factums, demand letters, mediation briefs, settlement documentation, and other litigation-related materials
  • Represent clients in negotiations, mediations, discoveries, motions, hearings, and court proceedings
  • Provide strategic legal advice on dispute resolution, litigation risk, settlement options, case strategy, enforcement matters, and advocacy planning
  • Manage files from opening through resolution, including timelines, client communication, legal drafting, negotiation strategy, and coordination with internal and external stakeholders
  • Work collaboratively with clients, experts, opposing counsel, and other legal professionals on complex litigation matters
Qualifications
  • Called to the Bar in Ontario and in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario
  • Minimum 4 years of experience practicing in civil litigation, commercial litigation, dispute resolution, or related advocacy matters
  • Strong drafting and advocacy experience with pleadings, motion materials, mediation materials, and court documentation
  • Experience advising on litigation strategy, commercial disputes, contract claims, recovery matters, and negotiated resolutions
  • Excellent communication, judgment, and client management skills
