Description

Our client, a respected firm in Calgary, is seeking a Commercial Real Estate Lawyer with 7+ years of experience to join its growing real estate and commercial law practice. This opportunity is ideal for a lawyer with strong experience in commercial real estate transactions, acquisitions and dispositions, financing, leasing, development matters, due diligence, title review, and general real estate advisory work.

The successful candidate will advise a broad range of developers, investors, landlords, tenants, lenders, and commercial clients on transactional, operational, and strategic legal matters related to commercial real estate. This role is well suited to a lawyer who is confident managing sophisticated files, maintaining strong client relationships, and delivering practical, business-focused legal advice in a fast-paced private practice environment.

Responsibilities
  • Advise clients on a broad range of commercial real estate matters, including acquisitions, dispositions, leasing, financing, development, and title-related issues
  • Draft, review, and negotiate commercial real estate documents, including agreements of purchase and sale, leases, financing documents, easements, development agreements, and closing documentation
  • Provide strategic legal advice on due diligence, title review, structuring considerations, financing matters, leasing strategy, and transaction risk management
  • Support clients with commercial developments, real estate portfolio matters, landlord and tenant issues, and ongoing property-related legal needs
  • Manage files from opening through closing, including timelines, client communication, legal drafting, negotiation strategy, and coordination with internal and external stakeholders
  • Work collaboratively with developers, lenders, brokers, landlords, tenants, and other legal professionals on complex commercial real estate matters
Qualifications
  • Called to the Bar in Alberta and in good standing with the Law Society of Alberta
  • Minimum 7 years of experience practicing in commercial real estate law, real estate law, or related business law matters
  • Strong drafting and negotiation experience with purchase agreements, lease documents, financing materials, and real estate transaction documentation
  • Experience advising on acquisitions and dispositions, leasing, development matters, title issues, financing, and general commercial real estate legal work
  • Excellent communication, judgment, and client management skills

Experience

7+ years of relevant experience in commercial real estate law, including experience with acquisitions and dispositions, financing, leasing, development matters, due diligence, and title-related legal work.

Education

J.D. or LL.B.
Called to the Bar in Alberta and in good standing with the Law Society of Alberta
