Our client, a respected firm in Vancouver, is seeking a Private Lending Lawyer with 7+ years of experience to join its active lending, real estate finance, and secured transactions practice. This opportunity is ideal for a lawyer with strong experience in private lending, commercial lending, mortgage enforcement, secured financing, loan structuring, due diligence, and real estate-backed financing transactions.
The successful candidate will advise a broad range of private lenders, institutional lenders, mortgage investment entities, developers, borrowers, and business clients on lending transactions and secured finance matters. This role is well suited to a lawyer who is confident managing files independently, handling sophisticated financing transactions, maintaining strong client relationships, and delivering practical legal advice in a fast-paced private practice environment.
- Advise clients on a broad range of private lending and secured financing matters, including commercial loans, real estate-backed lending, and mortgage transactions
- Draft, review, and negotiate loan agreements, commitment letters, security documents, guarantees, mortgage documents, and related financing materials
- Manage private lending transactions from initial instruction through closing, including due diligence, registration requirements, and post-closing matters
- Provide strategic legal advice on secured lending structures, risk mitigation, enforcement options, and transaction strategy
- Coordinate with lenders, borrowers, brokers, and other professionals to ensure efficient execution of financing transactions
- Maintain full file carriage, including deadlines, client communication, document management, and transaction reporting
- Called to the Bar in British Columbia and in good standing with the applicable law society
- Minimum 7 years of experience practicing in private lending, commercial lending, or secured transactions
- Strong drafting and negotiation experience with loan documentation, security packages, and mortgage-related agreements
- Experience handling real estate-backed lending, secured finance transactions, and related due diligence
- Excellent client service, communication, and file management skills
