Description

Our client, a respected firm in Hamilton, is seeking an Estates Lawyer with 6+ years of experience to join its established wills, estates, trusts, and estate planning practice. This opportunity is ideal for a lawyer with strong experience in estate planning, wills, powers of attorney, trusts, estate administration, probate applications, succession planning, and estate-related advisory work.

The successful candidate will advise a broad range of individuals, families, executors, trustees, and business owners on personal and business succession matters, estate planning strategies, and estate administration files. This role is well suited to a lawyer who is confident managing files independently, building long-term client relationships, and delivering thoughtful, practical legal advice in a professional private practice

Responsibilities
  • Advise clients on a broad range of wills and estates law matters, including estate planning, succession planning, trusts, and estate administration
  • Draft and review wills, powers of attorney, trusts, probate applications, and related estate planning documents
  • Guide executors, trustees, and beneficiaries through estate administration and probate-related processes
  • Provide legal advice on succession planning, trust structures, tax-conscious estate planning considerations, and family wealth transitions
  • Manage client files from initial consultation through completion, including drafting, communication, deadlines, and document organization
  • Work collaboratively with clients and advisors on personal, family, and business succession matters
Qualifications
  • Called to the Bar in Ontario and in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario
  • Minimum 6 years of experience practicing in wills, estates, trusts, and estate planning
  • Strong drafting experience with wills, powers of attorney, trusts, and probate-related materials
  • Experience handling estate administration, succession planning, and client advisory work
  • Excellent communication, client service, and file management skills
